Crawley Project:

GRP Garage Roof & Leak Repairs in Crawley

This Crawley case study covers a garage re-roof and a linked utility roof with long-standing leaks. We specified GRP (fibreglass) to create a seamless laminate around corners, upstands, and a new outlet. After a safe strip, we replaced damaged timber, laid OSB3, and formed falls using firrings. The GRP system included catalysed resin layers and a slate-grey topcoat, with pre-formed drip and raised edge trims for a crisp, modern finish.

At the client’s request, we reviewed insulation options and added a warm roof build-up to the utility area. This involved a vapour control layer, PIR boards, and careful sealing at penetrations. We also installed a compact flat roof light to improve daylight and reduce the need for artificial lighting. Adjacent works included gutter realignment, new outlets, and renewal of uPVC fascias & soffits to enhance appearance and airflow at eaves.

Because the site included a small felted porch, we re-covered it with a three-layer torch-on felt system for cost-effective performance while keeping detailing consistent. We completed minor roof repairs to the main tiled elevation, replacing cracked tiles and re-bedding a short ridge section to prevent ingress at the junction.

Quality checks included laminate thickness verification for GRP, bond tests for felt laps, and water tests to confirm fall direction and outlet performance. We issued a written guarantee and a simple maintenance plan: keep leaves out of outlets, inspect after high winds, and avoid dragging heavy items over the surface. If a re-roof or warm roof upgrade is being considered elsewhere on the property, we can survey and advise on the ideal material—EPDM, GRP, or felt—based on structure and budget. Our Crawley team provides quick quotes, tidy workmanship, and manufacturer-approved systems for dependable results.
