This project involved roofing works for The Concrete House, a complete new build that featured on the TV programme Grand Designs. As a bespoke property with a striking architectural design, the roof system needed to deliver dependable waterproofing, strong thermal performance, and a finish suitable for a high-specification build.
For this project, a warm roof system was installed using cut-to-falls insulation. This type of insulation is designed to create the correct drainage falls within the roof build-up, helping rainwater run off effectively while also improving the thermal efficiency of the building. Warm roof construction is an excellent choice for new build flat roofing projects, as it helps reduce heat loss and supports long-term performance.
To complete the waterproofing layer, a 3 layer built up felt system was applied. Built up felt remains a trusted and durable flat roofing solution, particularly for larger or more complex roofs where reliable weather protection is essential. The multi-layer system provides a strong defence against the elements and is well suited to premium residential roofing projects.
The finished roof now provides The Concrete House with a high-performance flat roofing system that complements the quality of the build. With effective drainage, improved insulation, and a robust felt finish, the roof is designed to deliver long-lasting protection and energy efficiency.
