Henfield Project:

Felt System & Skylight Upgrade in Henfield

In Henfield, the client requested an economical re-roof with a new flat skylight above a hallway. We recommended a three-layer torch-on felt system over a warm roof build-up, providing strong weathering and better thermal performance. We stripped the failing layers, replaced a portion of the deck, and fitted a vapour control layer, PIR insulation, and underlay plies before torching the granular cap sheet.

We formed neat drip edges, integrated the skylight with an insulated upstand, and renewed fascias & soffits for a fresh, consistent look. The existing guttering was upgraded to handle heavier rainfall events. At the tiled intersection, we re-flashed and re-pointed, also completing small roof repairs where previous leaks had tracked under the verge.

Our QA checklist included lap adhesion, torch temperatures, outlet testing, and a final water run-off check. The finish is crisp, watertight, and supported by a written guarantee. We supplied the client with before/after photos and guidance on care: clear leaves seasonally, check after storms, and avoid heat sources directly on the membrane.

For other areas of the home, we discussed GRP and EPDM options—both excellent when correctly specified. As experienced roofers, we aim to match materials to the roof’s size, detailing, and budget, delivering long-term results without over-complicating maintenance.
